BIOGRAPHY

Mike Stang is a working/touring/session bassist located in Los Angeles, who consistently pushes himself technically and creatively to be the best musician he can be for himself and the artists he works with.

Born and raised on the East Coast, Stang began to receive session work from several local artists in the central Pennsylvania area at age 18. As a founding member of the band Hierosonic, Stang quickly became a popular bassist in the East Coast music scene.

As Hierosonic gained a bigger following from the release of their last album “Consciousness.Fame.God.Money.Power,” the band found themselves featured in AP Magazine, AOL Music, & Rock Sound Magazine (UK). The music video for the single “The Media Taught You That” was featured on MTV & VH1. The album also received physical distribution through the Saturn stores in Europe. The band landed a live performance on “Filmon TV” hosted by comedian/actor Andy Dick. Hierosonic wrote and recorded the soundtrack for frontman Ben Stewart’s documentary “Ungrip.” Previously, Hierosonic recorded “Circus Freak Love Triangle” at Seventh Wave Studios with Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls.

While with Hierosonic, Mike stayed active writing, performing, recording, and touring all over the country with the band and other artists.

Working as a touring musician for 10+ years, Stang has found himself sharing stages and opening for some of rock’s best acts, including Jane’s Addiction, 3 Doors Down, Black Veil Brides, 30 Seconds to Mars, Halestorm, Chevelle, Filter, Band of Horses, Lita Ford, Sick Puppies, Lacuna Coil, Fuel, The Used, Cold, Lili Haydn, Saliva, Cold, Hoobastank, and many others.

In 2014, Stang teamed up with stand up comedian/writer/actor/activist Lee Camp, musically accompanying him for the live filming of his “We are Nothing” DVD in New York City which was also televised the following year.

In addition to being hired for live shows by many artists in LA, Stang has been brought on for recording and writing sessions, as well. Recent projects have involved compositions for Gaiam TV’s “Waking Infinity” (a show produced by former bandmate Ben Stewart) and a jingle for an online commercial for “Cardillac” (business card company) which Stang played bass on alongside drummer, Zhach Kelsch. In August of 2015 Stang was hired, along with Marc Ford of the Black Crowes, to record on Israeli blues guitarist Daniel Green’s debut album. In the summer of 2016 Mike and bandmate Dave Cavalier of “The Dave Cavalier Trio” collaborated on an instrumental song for the company Sparmat. In November of 2016 Stang was hired by musician/guitarist/songwriter David Lee to record bass for his upcoming album produced by Ian Boxill (Prince, Tupac Shakur, Mark Wahlberg, Janet Jackson).

Currently Mike plays regularly with The Flux Capacitors, Pete Wilde and the Kids Out West, Liquid Blue, Blue Velvet, Alligator Wine, The Six Flags bands:  Velocity, The Cursed, & The Mistletones.

Through it all, Mike is always excited to invite a new experience into his musical journey. Stang finds himself happily taking on projects of any style -- and finding inspiration in all of it.
